Let's reflect on the past, celebrate the present and embrace the future

Happy birthday to us!

This year we have 25 candles to blow out because – cue the confetti! – it’s our birthday! To celebrate this fantastic achievement, we are taking the opportunity to think about how much things have changed since our modest beginnings back in 1999. The world was so different back then – digitalisation was still in its infancy (the concept of AI-powered assistants was still unheard of in those days!) and the fashion industry was very different to what it is now.

The turn of the millennium marked the beginning of a new era in which the internet revolutionised the way we consume information and fashion. As a product of this era of change, our magazine was a front-row witness to the rapid development of technology and its profound impact on the publishing sector.

From the rise of social media to the boom of e-commerce, we have surfed every innovation wave and constantly adapted our approach to the changing needs and expectations of our readers. As well as covering the latest technological advances, we have also observed and reported on the ever-changing fashion trends, the progress in sustainability and cultural movements – always keeping our denim and streetwear community informed and up to date, whilst also staying true to our roots.

But when I think about our 25-year anniversary, I find it hard to believe that I have been around for nearly half of this incredible journey myself. I’ve had the privilege of being part of this dynamic team for the last 11 years and have been able to contribute to the joint vision and witnessed the development of our magazine with my own eyes. Don’t get me wrong, the path to this 25-year anniversary hasn’t always been easy. Like the fashion industry, the publishing sector has evolved and had to overcome many hurdles over the years. But we refused to allow these obstacles to get in our way, preferring to acknowledge the tough times and the lessons that they teach us. What we’re most happy about is the fact that we get to celebrate this special occasion with you. After all, without all our loyal readers and partners, none of this would have been possible. Despite the challenges and uncertainties we have experienced, one thing has remained constant: your unwavering support.

As we celebrate this milestone, we are full of gratitude for your ongoing trust and loyalty. Thank you very much for playing such an important part in our story and accompanying us on this exciting journey over the past quarter of a century.

With our sights set firmly on the future, we are looking forward to pushing even more boundaries, exploring new horizons and developing alongside the constantly changing fashion and publishing sectors. So, on that note, let’s raise our glasses and toast to the next 25 years!
